Biography
Alex Velto is a founding partner of Reese Ring Velto, renowned for his adept handling of complex litigation, labor and employment law, and trust and estate disputes. He has a distinguished record of success, including prevailing in high-stakes trust litigation, achieving favorable outcomes before the Nevada Supreme Court, and securing arbitration victories that have resulted in substantial financial benefits for public employee unions.
Prior to establishing Reese Ring Velto, Alex was a partner at one of Nevada’s premier law firms, where he honed his skills as a formidable litigator and trusted advisor. He is dedicated to representing labor unions in negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations, and is recognized for his assertive approach in holding government employers accountable. Additionally, Alex provides strategic counsel to businesses and employees on employment-related matters, offering practical solutions informed by his extensive courtroom experience.
Alex's commitment to the legal profession is exemplified by his election to the Nevada State Bar Board of Governors, where he has been serving since 2020. In this capacity, he contributes to the governance and oversight of the legal community in Nevada.
His dedication to public service extends to his roles as Chair of the Reno Planning Commission, member of the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency, and member of the Board of Directors for the Nevada Humane Society. Alex also imparts his knowledge and experience to students as an instructor at the University of Nevada.
Alex began his legal career clerking for the Honorable James W. Hardesty of the Nevada Supreme Court. He earned his Juris Doctor from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV, graduating magna cum laude with highest pro bono honors and receiving the Dean’s Award. During law school, Alex was actively involved in appellate advocacy, externed for U.S. District Judge James C. Mahan, and served as a Legislative Policy Extern to Governor Brian Sandoval. He also held leadership roles in student organizations, notably as president of the Public Interest Law Association.
Alex’s background as an All-American college debater and four-time qualifier to the National Debate Tournament informs his dynamic courtroom presence and strategic acumen. Whether representing unions, employees, or businesses, Alex is known for delivering thoughtful, effective advocacy that achieves results.
